Rhodes piano
Fender Rhodes
The Rhodes piano is an electromechanical electric piano invented by Harold Rhodes. It uses hammers to strike metal tines whose vibrations are captured by electromagnetic pickups. It outputs an electrical signal requiring external amplification for full fidelity. It makes audible sound unplugged — quieter and thinner — and features a vocal-range frequency gap that supports singing without masking.
