How it works, in terms a player would use
It uses sample-based oscillators and a fully digital signal path. A patch consists of up to four tones. It has 108 built-in sampled waveforms, expandable via PCM cards. In Multi mode it plays five different patches over MIDI, plus a ‘special’ patch — which assigns different waveforms to each of the 61 keys for drum and percussion use.
What it does better than anything else
It delivers hands-on, simultaneous control over four layered tones with dedicated knobs and sliders — more than any other digital synth of its era. It lets players shape complex textures in real time without menu diving.
