It captured clean, stable digital audio before hard-disk recording matured — especially in multi-track country sessions where punch-in reliability and tape-based workflow familiarity mattered.

It cannot scale beyond its fixed track counts or tape widths. It offers no non-linear editing, no recallable automation, no plug-in processing, and no integration with digital audio workstations.
